I live about 3 or 4 miles drive from Hampden (15 minute drive by side streets). I swear the thunder from that lightning strike woke me up. I can't even imagine what it was like for Hampdenites, or the folks affiliated with the church.
I live on the street of the fire, and it is very sad! The historic church was beautiful and the damage is extensive - to the tune of 5 million., and unfortunately only a 2 million dollar insurance policy.
And yes, the storm was ferocious!
