Things I Meant to Post Yesterday

Two things:

1. Roland Speed Trap!
(I KNOW that this is a bit out of Hampden, but considering the number of you who get north of Baltimore by driving up Roland, Hawker thought it was worth mentioning.)
Yesterday, there was a cop on foot with a radar gun on Roland Avenue north of Coldspring, just about across from Petit Louis. He was waving drivers over left and right, and was well hidden amongst the shady trees. You couldn't really see him until it was too late. Roland Avenue is 25-30 miles an hour--a limit which NO ONE respects. Be careful, and consider yourself warned.

2. Just Askin'
Is it appropriate that when I went to the post office yesterday, I was subjected to the Rush Limbaugh Show playing loudly on the radio? Because Hawker thinks not.

It is completely inappropriate you had to listen to Limbaugh at the PO. But good luck getting them to change it. Maybe you can get somebody to throw paint on the radio like that sign on 83 a few years back.

I'm not excusing the speeding but that section of Roland Ave is nice and wide and clearly designed for speeds higher than the posted limit.

But it is good to know that they BCPD have officers on foot running speed traps.

I witnessed an awful accident just north of there between the evil coffee empire and Roland Park Elementary School. One car headed north and going the speed limit got side swiped by a speeder trying to get around them. Both cars spun and the speeder got crunched against a tree in the medium facing south and the other car wound up on the opposite side of the road up on the sidewalk.

What I think is amazing is that they don't even have a freakin' stamp machine! You have to stand in line to buy one stamp.

Not surprised about Rush. No comment on ah-hum "friendly" staff that have waited on me.

'clearly designed for speeds higher than the posted limit"

what? walk with kids or ride your bike around your house there and tell me that again.

sorry but i think it's bad form to warm people about speed traps. the limits on roland are there for a reason. it's jerky at best to speed around all those schools. if you do, you deserve a ticket at least.
